Our core principle

Hampy is built with privacy first. Personal lists stay on your device by default. We don't sell your data, run ads, or build behavioral profiles. Features that need the cloud — like live sharing, optional backup, and push notifications — only send what's required to make them work.

Data stored on your device

By default, your packing lists, items, preferences, and learning data are stored locally using encrypted on-device storage. Core list features work offline without an account.

Live shared lists

If you host or join a live shared list, list metadata and items are synced through Google Firebase (Firestore) so everyone sees the same state in real time. This includes:

  • List title and invite code
  • Item names, check state, and order
  • Anonymous device identifiers so members can be distinguished

Only people with the invite code can access a shared list. We do not use shared list data for advertising.

Push notifications

If you opt in, Hampy stores a push notification token linked to an anonymous user ID so we can notify you about changes on shared lists you participate in. You can disable notifications in the app or in iOS Settings at any time.

Optional cloud backup

Premium subscribers can optionally back up encrypted personal list data via Firebase for transfer between devices. Backup is user-initiated; you control when backups are created and removed.

What we don't collect

We do not require your name, email, or phone number to use Hampy. We do not collect location GPS data, usage analytics funnels, or cross-app tracking identifiers.

Third-party services

  • Open-Meteo: Weather data based on destination names you enter (not tied to your identity).
  • Firebase (Google): Shared list sync, optional backup, and push delivery infrastructure.
  • Apple App Store / RevenueCat: In-app purchase and subscription processing per Apple's policies.

Your rights

You can delete local data by removing the app or clearing app data in iOS Settings. Leaving a shared list stops further sync for that list on your device. Contact us if you have questions about data handling.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
